UNB

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo, backing Middle East nations in building a new security architecture and emphasizing that the Palestinian issue remains the core of the regional question and must never be overlooked or marginalized.

According to China's state-run media, Xi called for a comprehensive solution for common security in the region. He urged external powers to abandon "double standards" and supported an effective role for the United Nations.

Addressing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz amid the U.S.-Iran war, Xi said that China is ready to collaborate with Middle Eastern nations to safeguard international shipping lanes.

Xi arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for a two-day state visit, marking his first trip to Egypt in 10 years.
