PM invites Qatari investment through letter to Amir

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has invited Qatari investment in Bangladesh through a letter addressed to the Amir of Qatar, as Dhaka seeks to further strengthen economic ties with the Gulf nation.

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman handed over the letter to Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi during a bilateral meeting in Manila on Friday, said a foreign ministry press release. 

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, reflecting the two countries' interest in further advancing their longstanding relations.

The meeting took place as part of the Bangladesh foreign minister's diplomatic engagements in Manila surrounding the TAC anniversary commemoration.
