Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Md. Aminul Islam, has expressed hope that the trials of all murder cases related to the July mass uprising will be completed within the next year. 

He said this while speaking with the journalists at the tribunal on Tuesday.

The Chief Prosecutor emphasized the progress and transparency of the judicial process. 

He said the tribunal has already concluded six cases. Of these, three were completed before he joined, and three after he assumed office. 

“Completing six trials within just one to one-and-a-half years is an example of an exceptionally fast judicial process”, Aminul said.

Providing an update on several major cases that are nearing completion, Aminul said around three cases are expected to be ready for verdicts during August.

The case filed against Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader is currently at the stage of closing arguments. Meanwhile, the closing arguments in the case against Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif have already concluded, and the case is ready for a verdict at any time.

The closing arguments in the Taim murder case, involving the brutal killing in Jatrabari, are expected to begin within the next few days. 

In addition, witness testimony and the presentation of evidence in the Ziaul Ahsan case are almost complete.
