Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan has expressed hope for increased technical cooperation with Norway to make local government system more effective and stronger.
He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Harald Gulbrandsen at his office in the Secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting covered a range of issues, including the local government system, the upcoming local body elections, technical assistance for various development projects, and increasing women's participation in local government.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister said cooperation and technical assistance are essential to strengthening the local government system. He noted that Norway's experience in various sectors could prove beneficial for Bangladesh. He also emphasized the need to increase women's participation in local government bodies.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Head of the Norwegian Mission in Bangladesh Alexander Falck-Bilden, Political Adviser Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division Dr. Abu Naser Mohammad Abdullah, and other senior officials of the ministry.
