Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has cut short his paternity leave and will return home from Italy after injuries to fellow pacers Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam left the national team short of pace options ahead of next month's Test tour of Australia.

Ebadot had traveled to Italy to be with his family as he prepares to become a father for the first time. He is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on July 29 after deciding to make himself available for national duty.

Bangladesh's pace attack has been hit by a series of injury setbacks in the lead-up to the two-Test series. Nahid Rana has already been ruled out of the tour after sustaining a side strain. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said the left-arm pacer will require one month of complete rest followed by another month of rehabilitation before returning to action.

Shoriful Islam is also racing against time to recover from injury and remains doubtful for the opening Test, while wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das is expected to miss the series opener because of injury.

The injuries have left Bangladesh with limited pace-bowling resources as they prepare for their first Test tour of Australia in 23 years.

The Bangladesh squad is scheduled to depart for Australia on August 1 and will play a warm-up match before the series begins. The first Test will be played in Darwin from August 13, while the second and final Test is scheduled for August 22 in Mackay.

The two-match series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle.
