Hasan Mahmud led the charge as the Bangladesh pacers built on an excellent morning session with another four-wicket session after Lunch, reducing Australia to 183-8 at Tea on the opening day of the first Test at the Marrara Stadium on Thursday.

Hasan doubled his wicket tally to four, adding two more wickets in the second session while Taskin and Ebadot claimed their second wickets in the session.

Steve Smith, who was dropped on two in the morning session, is holding down the fort for the Aussies, unbeaten on 67, while Nathan Lyon (0) is keeping him company at the other end.

The hosts resumed the session on 74-4. Smith and Alex Carey steadied the innings after the poor start with a 55-run stand for the fifth wicket.

But immediately after a drinks break, Bangladesh came roaring back with Ebadot breaking through Carey’s defences, dismissing him for 19.

Taskin then struck the top of Beau Webster’s (12) off stump as the visitors were through to the tail.

Then Hasan came to the party, getting both skipper Pat Cummins (nine) and Mitchell Starc (one) caught behind.

Bangladesh need just two more wickets to roll over Australia in a Test for the first time ever.
