The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 2 lakh yaba tablets worth Taka 6 crore during an operation in the border area of Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar.

No one was arrested during the operation, which was conducted at around 9:15pm on Sunday in the Kakra Bridge area of Balukhali, according to the BGB.

A special patrol team of the Ghumdhum Border Outpost (BOP) under Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) conducted the operation based on a tip-off.

The yaba tablets were found abandoned in the Kakra Bridge area, about 500 yards inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar-31.

Lieutenant Colonel SM Khairul Alam, commander of Cox’s Bazar Battalion, confirmed the matter.

He said, “Alongside guarding the border, BGB operations to prevent drugs and smuggling will continue.”

The BGB said the recovered yaba tablets were handed over to police after a general diary (GD) was filed with the Ukhiya Police Station.
